Challenge #1 - Genises - My First Creation

Hello, Crafty Peeps!

Welcome to "A Place To Start" a learning community for new crafters!

Experience crafters are welcome to participate, however, a lot of the information presented will be old hat to the long timers.

Christmas is over,  you have played with all the new crafting toys and now you are ready to get out there in the cyber crafting world and strut your stuff.   Great...but there is a lot to learn  Along the way, I will invite some of my crafty friends to share tips and projects.

We are a "For Fun Only Challenge" which means we will not award prizes.
We will acknowledge Top 3  and up to three Honorable Mention
There are literally "hundreds of challenge blogs" offering prizes and most of them choose their winners by random generator.  We have a listing of challenges HERE!  If you are new to crafting, I encourage you to enter some of these challenges.

Here is a link to Paper Playful
A blog dedicated to listing Active Challenges and their Requirements.

How it will work:  Each week, a challenge will be posted.  Each challenge will focus on a particular crafting technique/skill.

All Challenges will remain open until December 31, 2016, but only projects entered during the challenge week will be eligible for Name Honors.

But this week we are starting with a fun challenge!
(Cards, Tags, Bags, Scrap Pages, etc.)
This can be your first ever creation or
for the experienced crafters, your first creation of 2016

Here is Mine!
It is difficult to see in the photo, but this is a recessed window shadow box card.  I created it using a SplitCoast Stampers tutorial.   This was not my very first card ever, I started card making back in 1996.   This was my first venture into the online craft community in 2010.
I was shocked when this card was chosen to be "Featured" on The Outlawz

  1. Love LOVE your new blog! I found you, Chana, because you left a comment on my blog, and I was trying to find your personal blog, but found this instead! FABULOUS idea, and I look forward to playing. I HOPE I can make a card like this - thank you for the link - and play in your first challenge - thank you so much - I am following you on google friend connect and bloglovin'

  2. Thanks, Donna! I really appreciate the support!

  3. Chana, how lovely of you to do this challenge with lots of yummy tutorials. I have been paper crafting for years, but there is a LOT that I have missed so I am going to follow along. Hopefully you have a "follow by e-mail" link because I tend to forget unless I have an e-mail reminder. :)

    1. Teresa, I just realized I did not make that an option! I will do that as soon as I finish my latest cooking challenge! I am trying to learn how to cook a Russian dish called Pirohi (I think) and another called Pirhoski (don't think I spelled that second one right.) My eldest grandson attends an International School and Friday is Russia Day. Wish me luck. I plan to make recipe cards (if I have enough time.)

  4. Wow, that is gorgeous!!!! Have to watch that video...

    1. All of her videos are great and quite easy to follow. She give wonderful directions!

    1. Glad to see you back! I have been looking at your wonderful creations for Joy Clair...nice work! My Mixed Media projects have taken me away from creating cards, so this is a chance for me to hone my skills as well!

      Thanks for the support!

  6. Hi Chana. I just found your blog and I love it! It isn't about the prizes anyway! LOL! It's about sharing what you have created and about community with other crafters in my opinion. Thanks for a place to share our crafting. I am your newest follower; and would love for you to follow my blog if you aren't already. (I think you are one of my follower already.) Have a wonderful day! Love all of your creations and sharing. Hugs, Gloria

  7. Chana, My entry is my first post of the year 2016. I hope everyone enjoys it. Have a terrific day! Hugs, Gloria
