October 2021 - Challenge #10 - Purely Handmade

Hello, Crafty People!

This month, I thought it would be fun to challenge our players to create projects the old-fashioned way!  I don't expect a ton of entries, but it will be interesting to see the kinds of projects we will get from those of you who decide to accept this challenge.  I hope it will be fun and challenging to put away all the electronic devices and get our hands a little dirty and a little cramped!   Good luck and have fun! Chana 😍

Guidelines for this challenge:

1. No electronic die-cuts(i.e. Silhouette, Cricut, etc). Fussy cutting and manual cutting only! (i.e., Sizzix Big Shot, etc.)
2. At least one stamped image.
3. No pre-colored digitals and no digital papers.
4. Machine-cut embellishments are okay, but they cannot be the main focus of the design.  Twine, buttons, sequins, etc., are all okay!

SEPTEMBER HONORS
The remaining Rising Stars and Top Sprouts will be posted on Monday!  Life intervened and I am a bit behind.  Thanks for your patience and understanding, and for your support of our challenge!  Hugz, Chana

SEPTEMBER 2021 - CHALLENGE #9 - PATTERNED PAPER, PLEASE!

Hello, Crafty Makers!
Time really does fly when you are having fun!  This month's challenge is to revisit using Patterned Paper.  Designer papers aren't used as much now that we are all learning faux watercolor techniques, and becoming blending experts using our various inks.  But a slimline or step card made with patterned paper can be equally as exciting!

THE ENTIRE PROJECT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE DSP, BUT AT LEAST 25% OF THE PROJECT SHOULD BE DSP.

We were so impressed with all the wonderful crafting styles that were shared with us last month.  Trying to narrow the list of Top Sprouts was difficult!  Thanks to all of you for your lovely responses to our challenge!  We have tried to capture a Top Sprout from each style submitted.

DESIGN TEAM INSPIRATION SAMPLES

Welcome, Lisa, to the APTS Design Team!

My name's Lisa and I'm the computer savvy half of a mother-daughter card business.   I love having a blog to share my projects with everyone.  I have been crafting almost my entire life.  Stamping and jewelry making are the two things that have really stuck with me.  I am so excited to join A Place to Start as a designer!

I apologize for the tardy posting of our August Rising Stars.  I have been a little under the weather and I am now playing catch up.  All the Rising Stars for August have now been posted.  Please check to see if you are on the list!

Mixed Media
Hi! I’m Maria and I’m from Spain.
I started crafting in 2013 thanks to a beautiful stationery shop I found in Edinburgh when I was enjoying my holidays.
I love creating cards, envelopes, tags, and pages for my art journals. I’m always experimenting with my paints and tools and I like playing with different styles, from CAS to mixed media. It’s the first time I’m a member of a design team and I would like to thanks all the members of A Place To Start for this opportunity.
